memoirs of a geisha

went to see memoirs of a geisha yesterday. its a movie based on a novel written by arthur golden. havent got the chance to read the book yet... but will surely include this among my next books to read.

after seeing the movie. i tried to browse some more about geishas. see more photos. while looking at them i cant help but admire their grace and beauty. i wonder how they can constantly keep themselves looking so good as if negative emotions are unknown to them.

just by looking at them i know i can never be a geisha even if i'm given the chance. i can just wonder how uncomfortable it is to have that thick white powder on your skin, wear kimono and that very tall geta plus keep your hair fixed that way. with all that you are also expected to gracefully serve tea and entertain. imagine a geisha spilling tea on her guest. or better yet dropping the teapot (which btw i am very much capable of doing without any effort at all hehehe).

geishas are like living work of art. i'll be really glad if i'll get a chance to meet one... i've read that there are few real geishas now...i just hope their lives are better now compared to those ones during the earlier times. i hope that now they are free to pursue their own destiny.
